UniProtKB description:  Flavin-dependent enzyme which catalyzes the oxidation of beta-D-glucose by molecular oxygen to delta-gluconolactone and hydrogen peroxide. D-glucono-delta-lactone is sequentially hydrolyzed by lactonase to D-gluconic acid, and the resulting hydrogen peroxide is hydrolyzed by catalase to oxygen and water (PubMed:10216293, PubMed:10749686, PubMed:14412928, PubMed:15450808, PubMed:21040747, PubMed:9210339, PubMed:9546178). Alpha-D-glucose, mannose and galactose are poor substrates for the enzyme (PubMed:10216293).
