UniProtKB description: May function as a glyoxylase involved in the methylglyoxal detoxification pathway (PubMed:20975714). Induces maturation of dendritic cells in a TLR2-dependent manner, causing increased expression of cell-surface molecules (CD80, CD86, MHC class I and II) and pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-1 beta and IL-12p70). Acts via both the NF-kappa-B and MAPK signaling pathways. Induces Th1-polarized immune responses (PubMed:22415304).
